Air Tightness Solutions
Build tight ventilate right
What is Air Leakage?
Air leakage is the uncontrolled flow of air through the envelope of the building which can occur through poor workmanship, Cracks and gaps and voids in service outlets, and deteriation of building materials which are mostly not visible using just visual inspection.
Enviroscan can help to identify any problems using the latest thermal imaging and blower door technology and provide a full computerised report identifying areas of heat loss, building defects, and offer energy saving advice.
What is Air tightness?
The air tightness of a building is the air permeability of the structure or leakage rate through the structure. This air leakage rate affects the buildings energy rating
under The revised building regulations part L ( 24th Jan 2008) mandatory Air pressure testing for all new single dwellings will be required to be carried out where substantial work commences on or after the 1st July 2008.
Airtight buildings have:
- Reduced discomfort from draughts for occupants and users
- Protection of building fabric mainly from condensation
- Reduced running costs
- More Effective Insulation
- Controlled ventilation
- Better BER ratings/ higher sale and rental potential
