Energy Ratings for Houses – Who does it, affect and why is it important?

Who does this effect?

1. Home Energy Ratings:

As of the 1st of January 2007 new housing developments which applied for planning permission on or after this date require a Building Energy Rating (BER), whether their intention is to sell or lease the property.

2. Building Energy Ratings:

This requirement will be extended to all new non-residential buildings in July 2008 and to existing buildings offered for sale or rent in January 2009.
